The Woodmore Local School District provides free and appropriate public education (FAPE) to all resident students with special needs from ages three to 21, as required by federal law. Woodmore Schools offers a wide-range of Special Education programs and services. To receive special education services, a student must first be evaluated and meet state criteria. Once qualified, an Individual Education Program (IEP) is developed for the student. Students are served in the least restrictive environment possible, based on their individual needs. Parents meet with the district staff annually to determine appropriate educational goals and services.

Woodmore also participates in mandated Child Find procedures, which requires the district to locate, evaluate and identify resident children suspected of having a disability.  Screenings are available to preschool-age children who are suspected of having developmental delays.  For children age birth to 36 months, contact your resident county Help Me Grow office (Sandusky—419-334-6314, Ottawa—567-262-3141).  For children age three to five, please contact the district directly by contacting:

Your child may be eligible for a scholarship under the Autism Scholarship Program or the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program to attend a special education program that implements the child's individualized education program and that is operated by an alternative public provider or by a registered private provider. Information on scholarship programs are available from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) web site at this link www.education.ohio.gov.
