Feb. 18Varsity (Div. VI District Semifinal) - Carey 51, Woodmore 44. After the two teams played an even first quarter, Carey led 9-7, Carey won the second quarter, 11-6, to open up a 20-13 halftime edge. After Carey scored the first points of the third quarter, a three-point field goal to take build a 23-13 edge, Woodmore responded by scoring the next 11 points of the quarter to take a 24-23 lead at the 4:41 mark. Woodmore would go on to win the quarter, 19-9, and take a 32-29 lead to the fourth quarter. Carey would again score the first points of the fourth quarter, another three-point field goal, to even the score at 32 at the 7:37 mark. Woodmore would then score the next three points to take a 35-32 lead at the 6:53 mark. But, at that point the Wildcat offense went dry scoring just two points over the next six minutes. Over that time, Carey was scoring 16 points to build a 48-37 advantage with 1:13 remaining. Nine of Carey's points in the run came at the free throw line. Woodmore would get a close as 50-44 with 18.1 seconds left, but could not get over the hump. Junior Camille Strong led seven Wildcat scorers with 10 points. Senior Kara Schneider scored nine points. Woodmore had a 14-7 edge in two-point goals while Carey had a 7-2 edge in three-point field goals. Woodmore was 10-of-17 at the line, Carey was 16-of-25.
